Amy Bellamy and Dr. Sarah Brown have been named to new district-wide posts for Owensboro Public Schools. Bellamy has been named the Instructional Coordinator for English, language arts and social studies, while Brown will serve in the same role overseeing math and science.

Bellamy has been part of OPS for 17 years. She served as a school teacher at Owensboro Middle School until she accepted a position as the District Literacy Coach in 2018.

“I have really enjoyed being the District Literacy Coach for the past 5 years,” Bellamy said. “Now we have the opportunity to bring that same level of support to other content areas and provide additional support to our instructional coaches and staff to curate high-quality instruction.”

Brown just completed her 10th year in education, the last 5 with OS. She entered Owensboro Public Schools as a science teacher and during the COVID-19 pandemic was named the Digital Learning Instructional Coach.

“My favorite part about teaching science was the opportunity to guide students as they developed into problem-solvers, engineers, innovators, and life-long learners,” Brown said. “In this new role, I will be able to support teachers across the district as they get to experience the joys of teaching math and science, and as they guide our next generation.”

In their new roles, Bellamy and Brown will provide guidance related to their specific content area curriculum for preschool through grade 12. They will oversee the selection of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment to support effective implementation of content area standards.

They will officially begin their new roles July 1.
