Sutton Elementary will face-off against Tamarack Elementary in the 2019 Puzzle Pieces Lip Sync Battle

In only its second year, tables for the Owensboro Lip Sync Battle are highly coveted items.

Amanda Boarman Owen, executive director of Puzzle Pieces, said tables for the event, sponsored by Kentucky Legend, sold out in “literally five seconds.”

When tables went on sale at 8 a.m. Friday morning she said she had 23 emails in her inbox before 8:01 a.m.

“I knew people wouldn’t believe me if I said we sold out in five seconds, but we truly did,” Owen said.

While the tables that seat 10 are sold out, general admission tickets are still available. Two hundred and fifty tickets will go on sale 8 a.m., Monday. Tickets can be purchased through the EventBrite link on the Owensboro Lip Sync Facebook page for $30 a piece.

Owen said general admission tickets were a huge hit last year and she is afraid they will sell out in less than a day.

“I really think the general admission tickets could go within minutes,” she said. “The lip sync battle is a fun event that you don’t want to miss — it’s entertaining.”

LIP SYNC 2019 BATTLES:

-Emergency Services Battle presented by Disaster Team Inc will host the Owensboro Fire Department and the Owensboro Police Department. “That’s going to be our epic battle this year,” Owen said. “OPD won overall performance last year, so now OFD is out for blood.”

-Real Estate Battle presented by Republic Bank will host Keller Williams Elite Realty and Talk to Tyler.

-Education Battle presented by UniFirst — Sutton Elementary School and Tamarack Elementary School.

-Service business battle presented by Valor Oil will host Weedman and Empire Supply.

-New this year is the Wild Card Battle, presented by German American Bank, which will host two teams consisting of business professionals — Pitchslapped and Missing Piece.

Owen said she has been blown away by the excitement from the community.

“I didn’t really expect the eagerness and excitement of the community for the event,” Owen said. “I love a good crowd and my mentality is ‘go big or go home,’ so I am proud of how this event has grown in only a year.”

The Owensboro Lip Sync Battle will be Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Owensboro Convention Center.
