The Owensboro Family YMCA recently received a $10,000 child care grant from BB&T.

The Owensboro Family YMCA recently received a $10,000 child care grant from BB&T — now Truist Bank — to support programs that ensure children have a safe place to grow, explore and belong.

The YMCA made the announcement on Facebook Thursday afternoon.

“The Owensboro Family YMCA is extremely grateful for strong community partners like BB&T,” YMCA President and CEO John Alexander said. “We are struggling like every nonprofit during this time, and deeply appreciate this generous investment that enables us to continue to offer childcare for our community.”

BB&T Market President Angie Morrison added that part of the bank’s mission is to build better lives and communities.

“We know that early childhood education is key to fulfilling this,” she said. “The Owensboro Family YMCA plays such a vital role in our community, we truly appreciate the good work they do.”
