Friends of Sinners is having to switch to an all-virtual event for their 11th annual banquet Tuesday — their biggest fundraiser of the year. The move was made in light of safety recommendations due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the area.

This banquet is always held in November and usually draws a crowd of 400.

The event was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Owensboro Christian Church and would have featured client testimonies, a stand-up comedian, and prizes.

Instead, Friends of Sinners staff and clients will be at Owensboro Christian Church streaming the banquet live on their Facebook page starting at 6:30 p.m.

“This is very disappointing,” said Jordan Wilson, Friends of Sinners development director, “but we believe our supporters understand that this is out of our hands and we are sure that everyone will still donate online during the banquet.”

FOS, a Christ-centered substance abuse program, was founded in 2009 and offers residential treatment for both men and women.
