The Owensboro Human Relations Commission is continuing its search for a new executive director, and officials said they have narrowed the list of candidates down to 13 people, with hopes of making a final selection in the near future.

According to Treasurer Anna Kuthy, OHRC had 24 candidates apply for the full-time position. After conducting preliminary interviews, board members saw potential in 13 individuals who were “viable” for the role, Kuthy said.

Preliminary interviews will come next, Kuthy added, saying OHRC would then choose three or four of the top candidates to move onto the next round of the interview process.

“Then we’ll narrow it down to a couple of people to present to the board for interviews,” she said.

The new executive director will replace Interim Executive Director Jaklyn Hill, who has spent the last several months filling in while OHRC conducted its search.
