The Owensboro Human Relations Commission announced that Jaklyn-Mahree Frances Hill has been named its new executive director, effective Sept. 1. Hill has served as the interim executive director since April 1, 2020.

Following an extensive search, Hill was unanimously selected for this position.

“The Owensboro Human Relations Commission has been a part of my life since childhood,” Hill said. “The organization has always strived to promote understanding and respect among every part of our community. Through community events, programming, trainings and collaboration the OHRC has always been a bright light for the City of Owensboro. My goal as executive director is to work alongside the people of Owensboro, the city and county, and my board to create a unity in diversity for our community.”

Dr. Eunice Taylor, President of the Owensboro Human Relations Commission, said Hill brings a broad background in diversity awareness and intercultural communication and relations, and a vast understanding on human relations and civil rights. Taylor said Hill also brings her professional skills of creative thinking and problem solving, conflict resolution and fiscal responsibility and strong networking skills.

“We are truly excited to have Ms. Hill in the position,” Taylor said. “Already in the past year while serving as the interim director, Ms. Hill has been effective in promoting the mission of the OHRC, but also connecting with the many of the leaders in our community, identifying resources to serve those in need but also conducting research to gain insight to the needs of the community.”
