The Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation may be headed to the big screen in the future after years of serving the community. Brave Road Entertainment notified Randolph they were sharing the idea with a development team in Hollywood with the intention of making a feature film.

“It’s overwhelming at moments; I think I’m even having panic attacks because this is going down a road I’d never dreamed that I would be going down,” Randolph said.

The heads of the entertainment company said that when they met Randolph, they knew they “had met an angel at work” and thought her story could inspire activists around the nation. The movie is currently in the early stages as they are gathering information on Randolph and the organization.

The announcement came at the Foundation’s 28th annual shopping event at Meijer, where attendees could redeem $100 while shopping at Meijer or Kohl’s.

“Shopping day is Christmas day for me,” Randolph said. “Because I grew up as one of those children, and always dreaded returning to school on the first day, because I did not have the clothing like the other kids wore and you could easily tell the haves from the have nots.”

This year’s event was dedicated to Barbara Carper, a longtime supporter of the Foundation who died earlier this year. Carper’s family was given an acrylic obelisk in honor of Barbara’s service, shortly before her husband Bob shared a donation in Barbara’s name.

Zachary Whitfield was shopping with his three stepdaughters as they happily picked out clothes for the school year.

“It’s very comforting knowing that, regardless of the amount, that there’s some help,” Whitfield said.
