Make-A-Wish, the nonprofit that grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, celebrates World Wish Day annually on April 29 — the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of the foundation. The area Make-A-Wish chapter will be holding a fundraiser with a goal of raising $30,000 to grant wishes for children in Owensboro and western Kentucky.

Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana (OKI) is partnering with Cromwell Media for a “Request-A-Thon” on the radio station 94.7 WBIO. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on APril 29, anyone can request songs in exchange for donations.

The 12 hours will be filled with uplifting wish stories from local families, information about the Make-A-Wish mission, and how to volunteer. To learn more, visit owensbororadio.com/makeawish to find a donation map of local sponsors and businesses that are selling stars. Find more information below about how to give in person, on the phone, online, or through text-to-give during the Request-A-Thon.

Online Donations: Make a donation and song request online at donate.onecause.com/cromwell/donate

Text to Give Donations: Donate with text-to-give by texting ‘makeawish’ to 243725

In Person Donations: Drive-thru donations will be accepted at the station, located at 1115 Tamarack Road, through April 29 during station business hours. On April 29, donors can stop by the studio parking lot from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. to pick up lunch, with all proceeds going back to Make-A-Wish. Donors who give in-person that day will also receive a special thank-you gift.

For advance general donations or to schedule a time to present a check on the air, contact Lisa Reeves, Senior Advancement Officer for Make-A-Wish Western Kentucky Region, at 270-570-0632.

Make-A-Wish OKI, founded in 1983, has granted nearly 19,000 wishes. In Fiscal Year 2021, they granted the largest number of wishes in the country.
