The 10th annual Dancing with Our Stars — Owensboro Style fundraiser for the Boulware Mission raised $207,000, shattering the record set last year of $161,000.

All the money was raised over the last two months by the dance teams, ticket sales, sponsorships, and other donations toward the shelter. The competition was attended by more than 400 people at the Owensboro Convention Center.

The cast of seven “celebrity” dance couples hit the stage Saturday night, featuring a variety of dance genres including Jazz, Freestyle, Disco, Mamba, popular line dancing, and Hip Hop.

Dylon Cecil and Morgan McCubbins were The Mirror Ball Champions this year, as this engaged couple displayed their love story through their dance routine.

“We initially agreed knowing it was a great cause but quickly realized throughout this process and meeting some of Boulware’s clients how much of an understatement ‘great cause’ truly is,” Cecil and McCubbins said.

Jerry Ray Davis and Katrina Crume took second place after displaying their freestyle dance. Colin Powers and Noelle Shelton finished third with their disco routine.

Old National Bank again served as the title sponsor for the event.

The mission of Boulware Mission, Inc. is to help displaced individuals become self-sufficient through education, treatment, and services. Boulware’s programs help homeless and near-homeless men to identify and overcome obstacles to their well-being and independence.
