Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County is moving forward with a new vision in 2023 and starting the year by hiring a new construction manager, Tim Isbell.

Executive Director Jeremy Stephens said this is going to be a big year for the organization.

“We see the growing need for affordable housing in many economic demographics within our community,” he said. “After spending most of 2022 prepping and planning, we are looking to meet that need and the last step in this plan was hiring a construction manager. Tim is very in tune with the construction industry and will be such a valuable asset as we grow our mission this year.”

Isbell said he is excited to be part of such an amazing organization.

“After spending the last 20 years in residential and commercial construction, I’m looking forward to using the skills I’ve developed and investing them in Habitat’s cause — affordable housing for everybody,” he said. “Along with the mission, I’m also extremely excited to be part of an organization with phenomenal leadership, both in administration and from the Board of Directors.”

Stephens said Habitat’s vision for 2023 includes continuing their mission of “seeking to put love into action” as they strive to make homeownership a reality for vulnerable members of the community. He said Habitat’s mission makes it possible “for families to live under the same roof, for children to live in secure homes, and for individuals to grow old with dignity.”

The local Habitat chapter is planning on building 8-10 houses in 2023, with additional plans to break ground in July on a first-time homeowner training facility. It will be the first of its kind in the United States and will be named Ms. Virginia’s Education and Training Center, in honor of former Executive Director Virginia Braswell.

“We saw a lot of success in 2022,” Stephens said. “That has our Board, volunteers, and administrative staff very excited and geared up for an even bigger 2023.”
