The Daniel Pitino Shelter will host a fundraiser featuring headlining Christian comedian Shawn Reynolds and local comedian Layson Brooks on April 12 at the Brescia University Moore Gymnasium.

The “Stand up for Families” comedy show will begin at 7 p.m. and includes hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. To RSVP for the event, click here. Sponsorship opportunities are also available; all forms and reservations must be in by April 7.

The shelter is a nonprofit, non-denominational ministry that offers emergency and transitional housing to homeless families, single mothers, single fathers, and single ladies. The shelter also provides nutritious food, access to physical and mental health care, and educational enhancement, including life skills, legal aid sources, and computer training, all under one roof.

Executive Director Harry Pedigo said the fundraiser is essential for the shelter to continue providing these critical services to those in need. All proceeds from the event will benefit the many individuals and families the Daniel Pitino Shelter serves.

“We are thrilled to have Shawn Reynolds and Layson Brooks perform for this event,” Pedigo said. “They are not only hilarious but also compassionate individuals who genuinely care about the community they serve.”

The Daniel Pitino Shelter offers programs that help those in the GRADD region outside their facility. These programs include white flag shelter, mainstream housing program, rapid rehousing program, prevention and diversion programs, Nicky Hayden apartments, and street outreach. All these programs focus on an evidence-based housing first-low barrier approach.

“We hope that everyone will come out to support this fundraiser and help us Stand Up for Families at the Daniel Pitino Shelter,” he said. “None of our services or programs would be possible without the community’s support.”
