Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline donated a new truck to Owensboro’s Habitat for Humanity, and Executive Director Jeremy Stephens said it was a serious need for the nonprofit.

When the truck was delivered Wednesday, Stephens and volunteers wasted no time before loading a bed full of lumber to take to a project site.

“This is why Owensboro works, because it’s community organizations like [Southern Star] that want to help, Habitats that want to help, volunteers that show up every single day to help this community,” Stephens said.

Stephens said they are already on their fifth house build of 2023, a feat that typically would have taken them the whole year to accomplish.

Karen Getty, Southern Star Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, said the company is glad to continue to help organizations in the community.

“It’s just important to us to give back, and this truck is just a small token of doing that to help get the wonderful new applicants in their home,” Getty said. “We hope this truck will help aid Habitat and all that they need to build these homes.”
