Boulware Mission will have five pairs in their 11th annual Dancing with our Stars – Owensboro-Style on August 5, with community members ranging from real estate to their first father-daughter pair.

The pairs are as follows:

  • Denise Jarboe & Lee Upton
  • Chris Burns & Abby Burns
  • Nico Bustamante & Kristen Bustamante
  • Grae Greer & Matt Monsour
  • Rachelle Johnson & Akeel Kalik

This year Executive Director Amy Pride hopes to break even more records than she broke at last year’s fundraiser. As the major fundraiser, she said the funding would return to much of the service work they do at Boulware Mission.

“When the dancers are raising money, it’s not for me, it’s not for my boards, it’s not for my staff, it’s for the guys that need it,” she said.

Tickets for this year’s event go live on June 1.

She noted that since she joined the staff two years ago, 1 out of 10 admissions were from homeless men. Now she said 1 out of 3 admissions are homeless.

Added, the ages are changing, Pride said. Right now she said they are serving between the ages of 18 to 70.

Expansion is on the horizon for Boulware, as they are currently set to add 15 transition rooms to their location at 609 Wing Ave.

“We start the remodel meeting next week, and by June 1 we will be remodeling the whole wing at Boulware,” she said.
