This is a paid release.
The Cottage Farm Stand in Sorgho has opened its sunflower field for those looking to come out and pick their own fresh flowers. And honestly, even if you decide not to take any home (though, why wouldn’t you?) the sight of a sunflower field alone is worth the visit. Sunflowers can grow to be 4 to-8 -feet tall, making a field of them the summer equivalent to fall’s corn mazes.
But don’t wait. Sunflowers only last a few weeks. Those interested in making a fun trip out of it have until about September 20 to go picking. The Sunflower field is $5 per person and includes 2 sunflowers.
Additional sunflowers are $1 per stem. The Cottage will provide shears, but also recommends that people bring their own bucket of water to transport the flowers home.
5+ Acre Corn Maze Open Until October 31
The Cottage 5+ acre corn maze is also open and features an interactive game with 10 hidden mailboxes, each containing the answers to fun farm fact questions. Participants who complete the maze and the farm facts game can claim a special prize. It’s a great way to learn, have fun, and enjoy the beautiful fall season.
Both the sunflower field and corn maze are located at The Cottage in Sorgho and are open from 9 AM to 6 PM, daily while the sunflowers last, after that the corn maze will remain open through October 31 for normal store hours.
Enjoy breakfast, lunch or just a delicious coffee out on the patio during your visit. Weekday plate lunch specials are offered and The Cottage sources locally produced ingredients while making all the selections offered. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Kentucky agriculture and enjoy outdoor fun at The Cottage. Bring your friends and family for a day full of memories!
