Grace Marriage is hosting a one-day marriage event, “Cherish,” on Feb. 29. With a mission of helping marriages thrive, Grace Marriage was founded by Brad and Marilyn Rhoads, and they hope this event brings couples together to get excited about marriage.

The event, which runs from 1 – 6 p.m. at the Riverpark Center, is open to the public and tickets are $35 each.

“It’s designed for anyone that is married or anyone that wants to learn about marriage and get excited about marriage,” Brad Rhoads said.

This year they are featuring Focus on the Family’s VP of Marriage & Family Ministries, Greg Smalley, and wife Erin, along with Christian comedian, Dennis Swanberg. The Smalley’s have led marriage seminars world-wide and oversees initiatives that prepare individuals for marriage, strengthen and nurture existing marriages, and help couples in marital crises. Swanberg, known as “The Swan,” has been recognized across America for 25 years and continues to speak to about 150 organizations, faith-based groups, and corporations every year.

“Greg is the head of marriage at Focus on the Family and is nationally known and one of the most well-known people in the marriage arena in the country,” he said. “It’s just really cool to have him in Owensboro, to have someone of that caliber and notoriety in our area, and to have Dennis Swanberg on the same stage that same day.”

Hosting the event at a downtown location, organizers encourage participants to bless their loved ones with a dinner out after the event and by spending the night along our national award-winning riverfront. What better way to do that than to spend time together “casting a vision together,” as Brad Rhoads calls it and seeing marriage as a source of life and exciting.

“The prayer is, we want people to really enjoy marriage. Marriage is just such an indicator of life enjoyment; it all really depends on how you steward over it,” Brad Rhoads said. “We want to see couples thrive and truly protect and grow their marriage.”
