Owensboro residents who listen to Focus on the Family may hear some familiar voices next week when Brad and Marilyn Rhoads will be featured in a two-part series on the popular radio show.
According to the Focus on the Family website, Brad and Marilyn will “discuss the importance of modeling a good marriage to our culture, and the work of their ministry, which assists local churches in strengthening marriages.”
Brad and Marilyn are the founders of Grace Marriage, a marriage coaching ministry where couples spend six hours every 90 days discussing their relationship and strategically planning. The effort began when Brad and Marilyn were working with married couples in their church and the ministry was officially launched in 2012. Since then, the intentional, wellness approach to marriage has been implemented in 11 Owensboro area churches and is rapidly expanding across the region.
According to director of operations, Jeremy Bennett, 45 churches are facilitating Grace Marriage coaching groups in 2018, which amounts to around 3,000 participating couples. But those numbers are projected to increase to 80 churches in 2019 with close to 6,000 couples across Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio and Alabama.
“Focus on the Family works hard to stabilize families and help them thrive,” Brad Rhoads said. “Their heart and desire to encourage is apparent. They have encouraged millions and have been integral in the effectiveness of many Christ-centered ministries.
“Plus, Focus does everything intentionally and with excellence. They treated us amazingly from the time we arrived until the time we left. It was an honor and privilege to be interviewed by Focus.”
Based in Colorado Springs, Focus on the Family was founded in 1977 by psychologist James Dobson. The daily, half-hour broadcast has become one of the most popular Christian radio shows in the country.
The episodes featuring Brad and Marilyn will air on Tuesday and Wednesday.
