Local restaurants to celebrate Mother’s Day

Several area restaurants and businesses are offering ways to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend and next.

Sunday, May 12

Lure Seafood and Grille is hosting a brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 401 W. 2nd St.

Items include seafood lasagna, glazed ham, pesto beef tip risotto, grandma’s shrimp dip, chicken salad, bacon, quiche, macaroni and cheese, hash browns, succotash, broccoli slaw, salad, biscuits, English muffins, a waffle bar, chocolate cake and mixed berry shortcake and melon salad.

Adults are $25.99, children under 13 are $15.99 and children under the age of 4 are free.

Miller House is hosting a brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 310 E. 5th St.

There will be an omelet and egg station, where a chef will prepare eggs to order, including omelets with an assortment of choices to add in.

Guests may also choose hashbrown casserole, cheddar grits, sausage and bacon, biscuits and gravy, minted poppy seed fruit salad and assorted muffins in the breakfast options.

For those who want more than breakfast options, there will also be a carving station with herb crusted beef tenderloin, horseradish cream sauce and rolls.

Southern fried chicken, grilled salmon with lemon butter, mashed potatoes, sautéed green beans, a vegetable medley, garden peas, white corn, macaroni and cheese and a dessert buffet will also be available.

Adults are $25.95, children 12 and under are $11.95 and children under 5 are free.

The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden is hosting Mum’s Day at the Garden from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 25 Carter Rd.

Queen’s quiche made with fresh, marinated asparagus with hearts of palm and artichoke hearts will be served with fresh fruit and sweets and “Miss Daisy’s Tea.” All will be served picnic style.

Cost is $18 for members, $20 for non-members and $10 for children. Reservations must be made and prepaid.

Owensboro Convention Center is hosting a buffet from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. at 501 W. 2nd Street.

Items include buttermilk biscuits and country gravy, a waffle bar with assorted toppings, grilled flank steak, honey bourbon glazed Kentucky Legend ham and assorted desserts.

Accommodations are available for small to large parties in the third floor ballrooms, which provide beautiful views of downtown Owensboro.

Each mom will receive complimentary gifts to take home and can register for a chance to win prizes courtesy of  Nick T. Arnold Jewelers and Free Your Mind Body and Soul Wellness.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $12.50 for children ages 6-12 and children ages 5 and under are admitted free.  Additional processing fees apply to all ticket sales.

Saturday, May 18

The Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County is hosting a Mother’s Day tea party on Saturday May 18 (not this weekend)  from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1650 W. Second St. The food is catered by Morrison’s Food at Owensboro Health.

Tickets are $10 per person.
