The Shoney’s in Owensboro is permanently closing. The restaurant will close after it runs out of food, which will either be today or tomorrow, a restaurant worker confirmed Sunday afternoon.
A worker said she’s been told a car wash company bought the Shoney’s location.
In 2014, news broke that both the Shoney’s locations in Owensboro and Henderson would be closing. However, a new owner stepped in, renovated the buildings, and kept them open.
Shoney’s will be open until 9 p.m. tonight, unless they run out of food beforehand. The restaurant is located at 4710 Frederica Street between Taco Bell and McDonald’s.
