Local gyms offer incentives for 2019

A new year often brings with it the desire for a new body, or at least the motivation to start improving upon the old one. Beginning Jan. 2, local gyms will begin to fill with new faces trying to work off the added holiday pounds. According to the Owensboro Family YMCA, 209 new members joined in January 2018 increasing the gyms overall memberships by 5 percent.

Below is a list of some of the incentives local gyms are offering in order to support you in your quest for a healthier you.

BALANCE HEALTH + BODY

Balance Health + Body is offering a new client special for five weeks of unlimited for $99 and renewal for a second month for $75. Balance also offers a 19 pack of classes for $170 with no expiration.

Balance is also offering a new quarterly rewards system for class attendance where clients track progress and earn gift cards. Balance Baby (a program where you are able to work out with your kid in tow) is back for the new year and it’s a total drop in system, no sign up required and the cost is $6 a session. Kid Care is offered three to four times a week for $2 kid at the Frederica Street Balance.

HEALTHPARK

The Healthpark is offering an enrollment fee special for the month of January for $20.19 rather than the usual enrollment of $65.


Individual Healthpark memberships are available for ages 18 and up. The Healthpark also offers family memberships, as well as corporate, special-assistance and GoldenFit discounts. There are also daily ($12), weekly ($30) and monthly ($65) passes available.

IRON JUNGLE

The Iron Jungle is waving their enrollment through Jan. 31 and offering the first two personal training sessions for free.

The Iron Jungle offers single and family memberships, a month-to-month option with no contract, as well as a special rate for military and first responders. All annual & semi-annual memberships have an annual maintenance fee that is equal to their monthly membership rate.

PLANET FITNESS

Planet Fitness is offering a special on their enrollment fees through Jan. 15. There will be no enrollment fee for Black Card members and a $1 enrollment fee for Classic members, in addition to prorating and the annual membership fee of $39 assessed on March 1.

The Classic membership is $10 a month with no commitment and includes unlimited access to Home Club, free fitness training and free WiFi.

The Black Card membership is $21.99 a month, with no commitment, and offers the additional benefits of unlimited hydromassage, tanning, total body enhancement, massage chairs, key tag, unlimited guest privileges at other locations and discounts off of various drinks and products.

PURE BARRE

If you join Pure Barre during the month of January for 12 months unlimited (and enroll in autopay) the cost for January is only $20.19.

They also offer a new client special for the first month of unlimited classes for $99. Anyone is welcome to try a week of Pure Barre for free with no obligation.

YMCA

The Owensboro Family YMCA is waiving their joiner fee for the month of January.

The YMCA offers a variety of memberships including student, young adult, single parent, family (varies), senior and military. Monthly membership fees must be automatically drafted and there are no contracts.

YOGA 270

Yoga 270 is offering an introductory special of 40 (consecutive) days of unlimited yoga for $40. For the month of January, they are offering a 20 percent discount of 40 days for $32.
