Owensboro Health Wound Care has earned the Center of Distinction award by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award recognizes clinical excellence in patient satisfaction and wound healing rates.

According to OH, the Wound Care center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent. They also maintained a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent within 28 median days to heal.

“This prestigious award reflects a commitment to satisfied patients with quality outcomes,” said Jennifer Balascio, Program Director at Owensboro Health Wound Center. “We could not have earned this without ongoing dedication and hard work from every member of our team.”

Owensboro Health Wound Center has two locations, with offices in Owensboro and Beaver Dam, where they treat approximately 300 active patients per month. They offer highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, bedsores and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.

Advanced wound care treatments provided by the wound care experts include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. Owensboro Health Wound Care also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

There were 555 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, and 278 achieved the honor.
