Owensboro Health Wound Care has earned the Center of Distinction award by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

To achieve this distinction, the Wound Care center achieved “outstanding clinical outcomes” for 12 consecutive months, including high patient satisfaction rates. They also maintained a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent within 28 median days to heal.

“This prestigious award reflects a commitment to satisfied patients with quality outcomes,” said Jennifer Balascio, Program Director at Owensboro Health Wound Center. “Wound care is a team sport – achieving excellence requires commitment by our patients, and hard work and dedication of our team.”

Owensboro Health Wound Center has two locations, with offices in Owensboro and Beaver Dam, and they treat approximately 300 active patients per month. As a member of the Healogics network of over 600 Wound Care Centers, they are able to offer “highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, bedsores and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time,” according to a release.

Treatments provided include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. Owensboro Health Wound Care also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
