Owensboro native Dr. Chris Toler and Iron Health aim to expand patients’ access to care and now they are partnering with Summit Medical Specialists to provide telehealth OB/GYN services. Iron Health is a virtual care partner that serves as an extension of the OB/GYN practice.

Leveraging a tech-enabled, collaborative platform, Iron Health empowers OB/GYNs to focus fully on their expertise by giving their patients quick access to a virtual team skilled in primary and specialty care.

Built at Redesign Health and March of Dimes’ first Innovation Fund investment, Iron Health addresses the fragmentation between OB/GYN, primary, specialty, behavioral, and wellness care while providing OB/GYNs a full spectrum view of their patient’s health.

“What we’re trying to solve for is that your OB/GYNs are being asked to do more than they are able to provide, and so what we provide to them are the services that they would like to incorporate into their practice but may not either have the space or the people to be able to do that,” Co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer Toler said.

Summit Medical Specialists’ OB/GYN division services include birth control, pap smears, urinary incontinences testing, gynecologic surgery, prenatal care and more. Toler said that Summit is focused on providing comprehensive care for women — beyond just OB/GYN care — and we can support them in that mission by offering additional healthcare services to their patients. We just launched with behavioral health because this is a great need.

From gynecology and aesthetics to primary care and mental health, Summit Medical Specialists provides a full suite of healthcare services to Owensboro residents—supporting better outcomes across a woman’s healthcare journey at all stages of their life.

The partnership between Iron Health and Summit came about through a mutual connection he and Dr. Suzanne Rashidian had after practicing together. Toler said it was the obvious choice, and the choice felt right to launch the service in Owensboro.

“We’re very excited that Iron Health is our virtual care partner. We’re starting with Behavioral Health because it is a real need and something our patients have been asking for. Now we can deliver,” said Rashidian, DO, Owner of Summit Medical Specialists.
