The sparkly black sequins and dangling rhinestone earrings Katie Bouchard wore were nothing compared to her dazzling smile as she introduced herself at the beginning of the Miss America 2019 pageant Sunday evening.

Wearing a black formal jumpsuit, Bouchard confidently stepped up to the microphone to announce her pride in being a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a master’s degree in social work.  Unfortunately, her time on stage was short-lived as she did not make the “Top 15,” the first group of women chosen to continue in the competition.

To Bouchard, being able to participate in all the Miss America events, meet new friends, and raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network was “icing on the cake,” after fulfilling her lifelong dream of winning the Miss Kentucky title.  So, for now, she will continue living out her dream, and following her heart, as she visits Family Resource Centers across the state as part of her platform, “Being the Voice of America’s Children.”
