According to the Kentucky State Police, Daviess County Sheriff deputies were patrolling the area of Highland Court in Owensboro around 1 a.m. when they attempted to stop a red 2011 Nissan Sentra for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The driver, now identified as Deonte C. Holland, 25, of Owensboro had multiple warrants for his arrest and fled from deputies. The pursuit traveled on Highland Court where a KSP trooper was, and Holland swerved towards the trooper’s marked Dodge Charger as to collide head-on but aggressively swerved onto the city sidewalk and continued traveling.

The trooper turned around to assist in the pursuit and took lead. As Holland turned onto Wing Avenue, the trooper performed a legal intervention with his cruiser causing Holland to spin sideways to a stop. The trooper and deputies used their cruisers to block-in his vehicle. Holland was then successfully taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro where he is currently lodged.

Mr. Holland was charged by Kentucky State Police with the following offenses:
1) Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree-Police Officer
2) Reckless Driving
3) Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
4) Warrant Service: Receiving Stolen Property Under $500
5) Warrant Service: Failure to Appear-Bench Warrant

Daviess County Sheriff deputies also charged Holland with other violations.
