Madison Silvert, President of The Malcolm Bryant Corporation, announced Friday that Joe Berry, vice president of business development for German American Bank, has been named as the company’s first director of commercial real estate.

Berry has been with German American Bank (formerly First Security Bank) since March 2018. Prior to his service with German American, he served as executive vice president of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation.

“Joe Berry has a passion for the people of Owensboro and a commitment to the people with whom he works that this community only sees a few times in a generation,” said Madison Silvert. “His commitment to serving others before himself makes him the perfect ambassador for our company values and a person that our valued customers can count on to put their needs first.”

“I am humbled to be trusted with this new position at the Malcolm Bryant Corporation,” Berry said. “For decades, this company has been the true gold standard for commitment to its customers and service to Owensboro community. I am so deeply honored to join this team—the corporate culture built by this
outstanding family is a perfect fit for me both professionally and personally. I can’t wait to get started.”
During his career in Owensboro, Joe has been instrumental in developing economic strategies to help businesses grow, particularly in downtown. He previously ran Kentucky’s Owensboro office of the Kentucky Innovation Network, becoming the top performer statewide.

Sally Bryant, the company’s chair of the board, added “Joe is a passionate individual. This passion leads to a curiosity and creativity that will serve our company, our people, and the communities we serve well for years to come.”

An Owensboro native, Berry is a 2001 graduate of Owensboro High School, receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Transylvania University in 2005 and his Masters of Public Administration from Western Kentucky University in 2008. After first serving as a community & economic development planner at GRADD, Joe joined the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation as director of downtown development in 2011 before becoming the organization’s Executive Vice President. Joe’s experience has had a global reach, having marketed real estate and business opportunities in Owensboro to areas across the country and in Europe. He is a graduate of Leadership Owensboro, was named one of Owensboro’s “Top 40 Under 40,” and has received post-graduate certifications in Business Incubation from the International Business Innovation Association (INBIA) and Urban Planning & Design from the University of Miami School of Architecture.

In his new responsibilities with The Malcolm Bryant Corporation, Berry will lead the company’s commercial office efforts, concentrating on customer relations, acquisitions, and commercial expansion.

“I could not be happier and more excited that Joe will be joining our company,” said Malcolm Bryant, the company’s co-founder and member of the board. “When a talent like Joe decides to remain committed to his home town, it has the power to lift up an entire community. Local companies are fortunate when they can embrace local talent, and with Joe, we’ve gained one of the best.”
