DCSO: Man dies in accident on US 60 E

UPDATE: The Daviess County Coroner has released the name of the man who died in Friday morning’s fatal accident involving a semi tractor. The man has been identified as 39-year-old Christopher David Degg of Clay, Ky.


According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:15 a.m. Friday, a 38-year-old male died when his pickup truck rear-ended a semi tractor.

Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the accident occurred near the Hawesway Truckstop.

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the semi tractor was wearing his seatbelt and was taken to OHRH with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Deputy Chief Barry Smith, accident reconstruction is still occurring. The road is open, but DCSO is still on scene.

“There is no indication of any issue at this point,” Smith said when asked if drugs or alcohol played any part int he accident.

The Daviess County Coroner will release the name of the deceased once next of kin is notified, Smith said.
