At approximately 8 a.m. Sunday, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office detectives were notified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office in Louisville, Ky., that 2-year-old Eaton Tindle had died at Norton’s Children Hospital in Louisville from injuries sustained from drowning on Friday in Daviess County. The investigation by DCSO is ongoing.
UPDATE — 10:30 p.m. Friday
According to a release from Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brad Youngman, on Friday at 7:24 p.m., Owensboro Daviess County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a residence in the 200 block of North Chestnut Grove Road in the Lewisport area of east Daviess County regarding a possible drowning. The initial 911 call indicated that possibly two children had drowned in a pond.
The first emergency units arrived on scene at 7:32 p.m. and encountered several people performing CPR on a 2-year-old male next to a pond. Units from the Yelvington Volunteer Fire Department and East Daviess County Fire Department immediately took over CPR and Yellow Ambulance of Owensboro Daviess County transported the child to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies contacted detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division who responded and began an investigation into the incident. The investigation is ongoing at this time but it appears that the 2-year-old that was found in the pond and another 2-year-old were playing in the yard near the home prior to the incident while the parents were working in the yard.
Once the children were noticed missing, the parents began searching the property for them. Two men that were searching located the child in the pond and immediately jumped in and pulled the child from the water. The second 2-year-old was located unharmed prior to the arrival of emergency personnel and had not gone into the pond. The 2-year-old that was transported to OHRH was flown via Air Evac Life Team to Norton Children’s Hospital Emergency Department in Louisville, Kentucky in critical condition.
DEVELOPING — 9:30 p.m.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on North Chestnut Grove Road in eastern Daviess County where a 2-year-old was found face down in a pond.
According to Chief Deputy Barry Smith, the child was taken by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Daviess County Fire Department and Yelvington Fire Department also responded to the incident.
Smith said the parents were outside working on a deck preparing for a birthday party planned for Saturday. When the parents heard a car in their driveway, they checked to see that two children were not in the way of the vehicle, which is when they noticed they were missing.
It was then that one child was located in a pond on the property and the other was located near a roadway unharmed.
