A string of thefts has occurred on the west side of town this week, many of those within the Greystone Estates-Windstone subdivision. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) says they’ve made two reports of theft in that area that were taken hours apart.

According to Deputy Chief Major Barry Smith, DCSO made two separate theft reports — one on Tuesday night, the other on Wednesday morning — which both occurred in the 600 block of Manchester Loop.

“We have taken a report on a bicycle and [another report] on a laptop and backpack,” Smith said.

These reports corroborate social media posts made by residents living in the area. One individual reported a “massive stealing sweep” that allegedly occurred Tuesday night, making reference to the stolen laptop and backpack as reported by DCSO.

Another resident posted that a children’s bicycle was stolen from her family’s property, while yet another resident revealed that items were stolen from the inside of her vehicle.

One resident revealed still shots taken from a security camera, which show what appears to be a young male in a hooded sweatshirt standing between two cars in a driveway. This resident said there were what appeared to be three teenagers involved in the thefts.

While DCSO is investigating these incidents, Smith said law enforcement hadn’t named any suspects as of Wednesday afternoon.
