OPD charges teen with wanton endangerment

According to an Owensboro Police Department news release, at approximately 10:32 p.m. Wednesday, OPD’s FLEX Unit officers along with patrol officers responded to the 2500
block of Duke Drive for a firearm discharge.

Upon arrival neighbors advised that a resident had been seen running from his apartment and fled in a vehicle just after the gunshot was heard.

A short time later the resident was stopped driving in the area intoxicated. A search of the residence confirmed a firearm had recently been discharged in the apartment. Hunter M. Byrne, 19 years old of Owensboro, was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence (second offense), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property under $500.
