Overnight fire closes Price Less Foods

After an overnight fire at Price Less Foods, the store, located at 1731 Scherm Road, will be closed while officials investigate and assess damage.

Owensboro Police Department responded to a burglar alarm shortly after 3:16 a.m. Upon arrival officers found the store full of smoke and a structure fire alarm was dispatched at 3:19 a.m. for Owensboro Fire Department and American Medical Response ambulance service.

According to a social media post by OFD, smoke was reported showing with sprinkler system activation and firefighters made entry to find the fire, which was quickly found and extinguished. Extension into the ceiling area had to be extinguished and overhauled. Smoke was throughout the store and adjacent store front that is currently vacant.

The cause is under investigation, however it has been determined the burglar alarm was the result of the fire and not believed to be related to the cause. The store will be closed today during the investigation and damage to product is determined. OFD said that tore management will provide further updates, but Owensboro Times was unable to reach anyone at Price Less Foods.
