The Daviess County Sherriff’s Office posted on social media Tuesday that a scam involving their office has been circulating through Owensboro.

In a Facebook post, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reminded citizens they do not call requesting money in exchange for warrants to be quashed. DCSO does not collect money for any type of warrant or court fee.

From the DCSO post: “The Daviess Co. Sheriff Office has received several calls stating an unknown male has been calling them posing as Maj. Thompson with our department claiming the recipient of the call has missed court and warrants are to be served if the recipient of the call does not send money to the caller. We have been informed that the office number to the Daviess County Sheriff Office has been spoofed and used in these calls. The Daviess Co Sheriff Office does not and will not call requesting money in exchange for warrants to be quashed. DCSO does not collect money for any type of warrant or court fee. Please inform friends and family of this scam!”
