The City of Owensboro’s Trail of Treats Halloween event returns downtown from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

The city’s Public Events Director Tim Ross said depending on the weather, there could be between 8,000 to 10,000 in attendance throughout the evening.

“It’s a great chance for family-friendly trick-or-treating,” Ross said. “It’s like a big neighborhood.”

Trail of Treats provides a safe venue. The trail runs from Daviess Street to Frederica Street along Veterans Boulevard and Second Street.

Along the trail will be about 70 booths, where members of local civic clubs, businesses, schools, churches and other organizations will hand out candy and treats.

There will also be character meet and greet opportunities and balloon twisters. First responders will also be on the trail to greet the trick-or-treaters and let them see their vehicles.

Although the trail is not designed to be scary, there are strobe lights and booth sponsors choose their decorations.

A DJ will be playing music and Musick Studios will perform during the event.
