Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk set for Oct. 27

The 10th anniversary of Owensoro’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is Oct. 27 at Smothers Park in downtown Owensboro. This is also the fourth year for the Real Men Wear Pink candidates.
Registration begins noon with the walk starting at 2 p.m.

American Cancer Society’s Senior Community Development Manager Anna Way said they currently have 25 teams registered online, but they are expecting more registrations on the day of the event.

She said they are expecting between 4,000-5,000 walkers.

“We will have lots of activities going on the day of,” she said. “We will have a kids activity to color pictures and our Real Men Wear Pink candidates will be there as well. We will have a balloon twister making balloons for the crowd, Welborn’s Floral will be giving flowers to our survivors. We will also have Zumba for everyone to join.”

Cathy Mullins will be signing the national anthem, Blue Line Entertainment will be the music deejay and Chad Benefield will be the Emcee.

The “strides store” will be up and running with merchandise for sale.

Way said she would love to have the community to come out and support the American Cancer Society and raise awareness for breast cancer.
