OFD responds to fire on Plum Street

Owensboro Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 319 Plum Street Friday around 4 pm. According to Battalion Chief Colter Tate, OFD has not yet determined a cause for the fire, but the situation is being investigated. The structure sustained severe smoke and fire damage throughout its entirety, but no one was was injured.

Two people were living at the residence, renting the space and have been displaced as a result of the fire.

According to a social media post by OFD, firefighters operated in rescue mode with initial reports of possible occupants. An aggressive attack of a well involved structure allowed a primary search confirming no occupants. Heavy fire caused a switch to a defensive attack until the structure could be are to re-enter to finalize extinguishment. Stations 1, 2, 3, and 4 along with F95, F97, F98, F91 were on scene.
