Daviess County officials say conditions for trick-or-treating this evening will be very chilly and a little breezy.

In a social media post Daviess County Emergency Management Agency Director Andy Ball said wind chill values will be near or below freezing by the early evening hours. Trick-or-treaters should wear extra layers to keep warm, he said. Winds are expected to range from 15 to 21 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 32 miles per hour.

A freeze warning has been issued from 10 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday morning. Despite the low temperatures, Ball said the wind chill will not quite make the criteria for White Flag.

There will be a hard freeze tonight, and it will remain unseasonably cold through the weekend. Low temperatures in the middle to upper 20s are expected Friday morning. Unprotected tender vegetation will be killed.
