A bond hearing for murder suspect and Owensboro native Demartez Thruston, 19, was reset for Jan. 7 on Monday in Daviess County Circuit Court.

Thruston has been held at the Daviess County Detention Center since Oct. 21, after being arrested in Louisville on a murder charge.

Thruston was indicted for murder by the Daviess County Grand Jury on May 1 for the shooting homicide of Hopkinsville native Kevin D. White, who was shot in the 1000 block of West Eighth Street on March 12.

Thruston has since entered a not guilty plea for White’s murder. At Monday’s hearing, Thruston’s previous employment with UPS and his enrollment at Owensboro Community & Technical College were discussed with Circuit Court Judge Jay Wethington.

Until the Jan. 7 bond hearing takes place, Thruston will continue being held at DCDC on a $150,000 full cash bond.
