First readings for two ordinances annexing certain unincorporated properties to the City of Owensboro were read at Tuesday’s City commission. Both properties fall under unincorporated County territory and are adjoined to the present boundary line of the City.
One property — owned by Professional Properties and Construction, LLC, and The Offices Creekside Properties — is located at 1030 Burlew Blvd. and contains .408 acres.
The property sits at the corner of Burlew Boulevard and New Hartford Road and is the site of a newly constructed office building. City Manager Nate Pagan said the property owner signed a consent form to proceed with the annexation.
The location of this property is somewhat unusual, Pagan added, as its location splits the property between City and County jurisdiction.
“The way the property was annexed in the past essentially bisected a parcel,” Pagan said. “So this particular parcel was part in the city and part in the county, and this cleans that up.”
The other property in discussion is located at 3509 Fairview Drive and is owned by JED Rental, LLC. The property sits on 3.46 acres and contains an apartment complex with 30 units.
Pagan said the property owner also signed a consent form to proceed with the annexation.
No vote was taken on the ordinances’ first readings.
