Legends Outfitters located at 325 Park Dr., is closing its doors for more than two weeks to undergo renovation to the outdoor lifestyle store. The renovation is anticipated to last from Monday until Jan. 31. The updated store is scheduled to reopen Feb. 1.

“The store has really been the same for close to ten years,” said Legends Operating Partner Ryan Clark. “It’s just time for a refresh.”

According to Clark, the improvements will include installing new flooring and subfloors, new lights, windows and expanded clothing racks. The checkout counter and shoe display area will also be redone and placed in new locations throughout the store.

“The goal is to open up the store and optimize the space we have and add a better experience for our customers,” Clark said. ”We want them to have a more beautiful, more engaging environment when they come in.”

By optimizing the space, Clark also hopes to be able to offer more cycling clinics, spin classes and yoga to the community, as in years past.

“We want to make the space more modular in order to offer more clinics and classes,” Clark said. “It’s always been a large effort to make that space easy to use.”

Clark said, it is not just the space, but the customer service aspect of the store, and willingness to go the extra mile, that sets them apart as a small business for active living.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with products and knowledge to lead an active lifestyle,” Clark said. “We have a loyal customer base because we treat people with compassion and like they’re people. We are here to provide a service to our community and to do the right thing — a lot of people find value in that.”

As far as the timeframe for renovation, Clark said management did their best to select a time that would be most convenient for their customers.

“We’re a pretty year-round seasonal business,” Clark said. “After that first little New Year’s rush is one of our slower times, so we were trying to choose the best time that would cause the least amount of disruption. We are always looking for new things for our store — that search never ends — that’s one of the things that makes our store fun. That’s one of the good things about being a local business, we have the ability to move fast and stay ahead of the curve and bring new and exciting products to the area that will benefit our customers.”
