Wendy Steele spoke on the significance of giving and how Impact 100 was designed for communities like Owensboro at Thursday’s Rooster Booster.

Impact 100 is a nonprofit with about 70 chapters worldwide, including one in Owensboro.

The organization operates by having 100 women donate $1,000 each to raise $100,000, which will be awarded to nonprofits in the community of the individual chapters.

“Giving back to the community is one of the best things that you can do for yourself and for your family because that’s where lives get changed,” she said.

The 2020 goal in its Owensboro chapter is to reach 300 members. This will allow three grants of $100,000 to be put back into the community by awarding them to local nonprofits.

Steele said the goal is to bring women together from across the age and geographic spectrums and empower them to view themselves as activists through awarding these grants to the community.

Thursday’s Rooster Booster was sponsored by Wendell Foster.

“Here in Owensboro you have so many world-class businesses you have so many world-class business people,” Steele said. “I’ve been lucky enough to experience some of the best Owensboro has. But I’m sure I’ve seen only the tip of the iceberg.”
