As teachers and students alike adapt to Non-Traditional Instruction, Owensboro High School senior Evey Lindle and a handful of classmates decided to make a short video showing appreciation and support for the staff at OHS.

“The teachers and administrators made a video for us letting us know they missed us and hoping we can all get back in school soon,” Lindle said. “I was pretty sure the teachers would appreciate a video back. I thought it would be a kind gesture because they haven’t seen our faces in so long.”

Lindle first posted a picture to her Snapchat story to get others involved. There weren’t a lot of responses at first, so she went out of her way to get more students on board.

“After more people got involved, I had them reach out to more people to try to get a variety of people in the video,” she said.

Some students sent a short clip just saying they missed being at school. Others went more in-depth, talking about how they’ve been dealing with online classes or how they are handling having to stay home.

It goes to show school isn’t always about grades and classwork — sometimes it’s about being part of a family and having a support system.

“Everybody at OHS goes out of their way to make sure we feel like we are a family, and we are a family,” Lindle said. “I’m always going to be welcomed at OHS when I graduate, no matter what. They’re always going to have open arms towards us. That’s how it’s going to be for everyone that goes there. It makes it really special.”
