Two COVID-19 drive-thru testing sites have opened in Daviess County, though access is still limited at this time.

The announcement came from Owensboro Health Chief Medical Officer Francis DuFrayne during a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon.

One of those testing sites will be open for a limited time during the day, while the other will be open at night. DuFrayne said he could not announce the locations of either testing site at this time so they don’t become “quickly overwhelmed” by those seeking COVID-19 tests.

“In order to go through the drive-thru testing center, you have to call the hotline, and they will be able to review your symptoms, and if they feel that you really do need a test, they will send you to one of the centers,” DuFrayne said.

The number for the OH hotline is 877-888-6647. Those who are approved for testing will be given a number beforehand that they will take with them to one of the two sites.

DuFrayne added that he hopes more drive-thru sites will be made available in the near future through partnerships with major pharmacies and shopping centers.

“There are two testing sites right now, and we’re in communication with Walmart and CVS and the other organizations that the president announced last week,” DuFrayne said.
