Gov. Andy Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff for one week starting today in honor of the more than 100 Kentuckians who have died due to COVID-19.
Beshear encourages individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Kentucky to join in this tribute.
“Each Kentuckian lost to the coronavirus is someone’s mother or father, someone’s child, someone’s significant other – someone loved by their family and friends,” Beshear said. “Paying tribute in this fashion is just one more way we, as a commonwealth, can collectively mourn the loss of these members of our community.”
As Monday afternoon, Beshear said there were at least 2,048 coronavirus cases in Kentucky, and there have been 104 deaths related to the virus in the state.
To date, at least 26,683 people have been tested. At least 629 people have recovered. At least 673 people have ever been hospitalized, with 299 currently hospitalized. At least 259 have ever been in the ICU, with at least 136 currently in the ICU.
