DCSO investigating hit-and-run fatality

UPDATE: The victim from Thursday night’s deadly accident has been identified as 38-year-old Kristine Rhineburger of Owensboro.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a hit-and-run collision that killed a woman Thursday night in the 4900 block of KY 56.

According to a deputies with DCSO, they received two calls about the incident. The first call came around 8:46 p.m. and said a woman dressed in black clothing was walking in he road. A second call around 8:57 p.m. reported a woman laying in the road.

“Upon arrival, it was determined that the pedestrian had been struck by an unknown vehicle which had fled the scene. The pedestrian was transported by AMR to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where they were later pronounced deceased,” according to a DSCO release.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office pending family notification.

The vehicle will be missing a passenger-side headlight lens, according to the release.

Anyone with information on the run vehicle can contact Detective Jared Spurrier or Sgt. Tyler Free at the Sheriff’s Office by calling 270-685-8444, or remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers by calling 270-687-8484.

DCSO, Owensboro Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Airport-Sorgho Fire Department, Daviess County Fire Department and AMR Ambulance all responded to the incident.
