UPDATE: The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office believes they have narrowed down the type of vehicle involved in a fatal accident on KY 56 Thursday night.

The victim from Thursday night’s deadly hit-and-run has been identified as 38-year-old Kristine Rhineburger of Owensboro.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident, which occurred in the 4900 block of KY 56.
According to a deputies with DCSO, they received two calls about the incident. The first call came around 8:46 p.m. and said a woman in dressed black clothing was walking in the road. A second call around 8:57 p.m. reported a woman laying in the road.
“Upon arrival, it was determined that the pedestrian had been struck by an unknown vehicle which had fled the scene. The pedestrian was transported by AMR to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where they were later pronounced deceased,” according to a DSCO release.
The vehicle will be missing a passenger-side headlight lens, according to the release.

DCSO, Owensboro Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Airport-Sorgho Fire Department, Daviess County Fire Department and AMR Ambulance all responded to the incident.
