During his Tuesday briefing, Gov. Andy Beshear commended Owensboro for hitting high numbers during the first day of drive-thru testing.
The local site, run by Kroger Health and located at Owensboro Community & Technical College, was already near the day-one capacity by the time he gave his daily address.
Beshear said there are now 13 drive-thru testing locations throughout Kentucky, and the state is doing more testing now than it’s ever done.
“People are taking advantage of these and need to continue taking advantage of these,” he said.
Owensboro and Bowling Green opened their sites for the first time Tuesday, and Beshear said both produced “high volume.”
Though registration is full for Owensboro’s site for this week, it will be open again for three days next week. The infrastructure will be left up, but Green River District Health Department will take over the staffing and administration of testing.
A registration portal should be open later this week at healthdepartment.org.
