In light of the COVID-19 pandemic with social distancing measures and business closures in place, Owensboro Parent is offering free delivery of its April/May issue to ensure local readers are able to get the publication.

The family magazine that has been read locally for nearly nine years has become a community must-read, sharing stories of local families along with tips and advice from local experts.

Approximately 7,500 magazines are distributed in all three local school systems and in hundreds of businesses and professional offices throughout Owensboro. Given that schools are not in session and many distribution locations are closed by mandate from the state during this health crisis, the magazine staff had to get creative to ensure readers receive the latest issue.

“This issue specifically is very special to us,” said Owensboro Parent editor Ashley Sorce Wedding. “We publish a Kids Takeover edition annually where hundreds of local kids contribute content to our magazine. They worked so hard to write and illustrate this issue that we want to work just as hard to make sure it gets in the hands of our readers.”

Owensboro Parent is asking that readers interested in having an issue delivered for free sign up by the end of today at owensboroparent.com/delivery-signup/. Deliveries will be made inside the Owensboro bypass and up to one mile outside on Thursday and Friday.

“Our staff is making sure to make these deliveries in a safe and healthy manner, adhering to all state recommendations,” Wedding said. “Not only do we hope these deliveries will allow you to read great content by Owensboro’s youngest generation, but we hope it brings a little happiness to your door during this uncertain time.”
