Louisville-based Mile Wide Beer Co. has been planning an expansion of their business to Owensboro for some time, but with the COVID-19 pandemic putting an opening date for restaurants and bars on hold, the brewery had to go off script and offer delivery services.

Co-owner Scott Shreffler said Mile Wide’s craft beers can now be ordered from the brewery and delivered to Owensboro residents’ front doors. Mile Wide has been delivering beer in Louisville in recent weeks, but Shreffler said the company wanted to make sure Owensboro was also included.

“People can call our taproom from Friday-Wednesday, and then we load it up and deliver on Thursdays,” Shreffler said. “If you’re wanting a case of our beer, or a few cases, this is an opportunity to do that.”

Customers can call 502-409-8139 to place a beer order.

Getting to know Owensboro and the people who reside here is extremely important to Shreffler and his team. Deliveries give them a chance to meet some of the people who might become clientele in the future, even if that meet-and-greet has to happen from a distance right now.

Breweries such as Mile Wide were left with few options once they were forced to cease in-person services due to the coronavirus.

“One of the benefits of being a small business is having the ability to change and adapt as needed,” he said. “This is going to last until all of this is over.”

With alcohol sales skyrocketing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shreffler said it’s a good time for he and his team to give Owensboro a taste of what they’ve got to offer.

“We are committed to not just opening a taproom here, but becoming part of the culture of Owensboro,” he said.
