Multiple employees have confirmed they were informed that Owensboro’s TGI Friday’s location will be closing permanently.

Owensboro Times received a copy of an email that was sent to employees at 4:05 p.m. from General Manager Chad Johnson. The email has also appeared on multiple Facebook accounts.

“I know many of you have asked when we will be able to get back to business as usual,” the email reads, in part. “However, the purpose of this letter is to inform everyone that the company will not be reopening the doors to our location.”

It goes on to say, “Through no fault of ours, this decision was made by the company because of losses endured by the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, arrangements could not be made favoring our location.”

The location was already temporarily closed due to the pandemic.

According to multiple reports, TGI Friday’s had already closed several locations across the country before the COVID-19 crisis began due to a decrease in sales and profit.

Owensboro Times called the number listed for the Owensboro location, but the call “could not be completed as dialed.”

Multiple attempts to contact the corporate office went unanswered.
