17 more COVID-19 cases announced for area; 12 in Daviess County

A total of 17 additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday morning for the Green River District, including 12 in Daviess County. Cases were also reported in Henderson (2), McLean (1), Ohio (1) and Union (1) counties. Four more recoveries were also announced, all in Daviess County.

Of the 461 total cases reported by Green River District Health Department in the seven-county district, 230 (50%) have now recovered and 55 (12%) have required hospitalization. There are 23 patients currently hospitalized, and there have been seven deaths — four in Daviess County, two in Henderson County, and one in McLean County.

The county totals are:

  • Daviess County – 248 cases, 120 recovered, 8 current hospitalizations, 21 ever hospitalized, 4 deaths
  • Hancock County – 6 cases, 5 recovered
  • Henderson County – 76 cases, 44 recovered, 9 current hospitalizations, 19 ever hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • McLean County – 18 cases, 9 recovered, 1 current hospitalization, 2 ever hospitalized, 1 death
  • Ohio County – 75 cases, 27 recovered, 2 current hospitalizations, 6 ever hospitalized
  • Union County – 9 cases, 6 recovered, 1 current hospitalization, 1 ever hospitalized
  • Webster County – 29 cases, 19 recovered, 2 current hospitalizations, 6 ever hospitalized

Patients range in age from 7 months-93 years old, with an average age of 44. To date, 54.9% of patients have been male and 45.1% have been female. Cases by age range are:

  • <1 — 1 case
  • 1-11 — 6 cases
  • 12-19 — 17 cases
  • 20-29 — 81 cases
  • 30-39 — 98 cases
  • 40-49 — 98 cases
  • 50-59 — 75 cases
  • 60-69 — 49 cases
  • 70-79 — 19 cases
  • 80+ — 17 cases

Cases are expected to continue to rise as testing capacity increases in the area and across the state. The cases reported by GRDHD have been investigated and confirmed locally. These cases are then reported to the Kentucky Department for Public Health. This process sometimes may result in lags between state and local reporting and some discrepancies from duplicate reports.
