COVID-19 update: 14 cases, 13 recoveries reported for area

A total of 14 cases of COVID-19 and 13 recoveries from the virus were reported Thursday in the Green River District. New cases were confirmed in Daviess (3), Ohio (8), Henderson (2) and Webster (1) counties.

Of the 551 total cases reported by Green River District Health Department in the seven-county district, 371 (67%) have now recovered and 67 (12%) have required hospitalization. There are 20 patients currently hospitalized, and there have been eight deaths — four in Daviess County, three in Henderson County, and one in McLean County.

The county totals are:

  • Daviess County – 277 cases, 196 recovered, 7 current hospitalizations, 25 ever hospitalized, 4 deaths
  • Hancock County – 6 cases, 6 recovered, 1 ever hospitalized
  • Henderson County – 89 cases, 60 recovered, 10 current hospitalizations, 22 ever hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • McLean County – 20 cases, 15 recovered, 2 ever hospitalized, 1 death
  • Ohio County – 118 cases, 61 recovered, 1 current hospitalizations, 10 ever hospitalized
  • Union County – 9 cases, 8 recovered, 1 current hospitalization, 1 ever hospitalized
  • Webster County – 32 cases, 25 recovered, 1 current hospitalizations, 6 ever hospitalized

Patients range in age from 7 months-93 years old, with an average age of 43. To date, 55.2% of patients have been male and 44.8% have been female. Cases by age range are (not all demographic information is available yet because of late and incomplete reporting from a testing site):

  • <1 — 2 cases
  • 1-11 — 6 cases
  • 12-19 — 23 cases
  • 20-29 — 94 cases
  • 30-39 — 121 cases
  • 40-49 — 118 cases
  • 50-59 — 86 cases
  • 60-69 — 57 cases
  • 70-79 — 24 cases
  • 80+ — 18 cases

Cases are expected to continue to rise as testing capacity increases in the area and across the state. The cases reported by GRDHD have been investigated and confirmed locally. These cases are then reported to the Kentucky Department for Public Health. This process sometimes may result in lags between state and local reporting and some discrepancies from duplicate reports.
